Loriana Kuka

Loriana Kuka (born April 5, 1997 ) is a Kosovar judoka . In 2019 she won bronze medals at the European and World Championships.

Career

Loriana Kuka grew up in Switzerland and won the Swiss championship title in the weight class over 63 kilograms in 2015 . In 2016 and 2017 she was fifth for Switzerland in the Junior European Championships in the weight class up to 70 kilograms.

From 2018 she competed for Kosovo in the light heavyweight division, the weight class up to 78 kilograms. After a seventh place at the 2018 European Championships in Tel Aviv, she reached the final of the 2018 Mediterranean Games and won silver behind the Italian Giorgia Stangherlin . In November she won the U23 European Championships, defeating Giorgia Stangherlin in the semifinals and the German Christina Faber in the final .

At the European Championships held in Minsk as part of the 2019 European Games, she lost to the Dutch Guusje Steenhuis in the quarterfinals , and Kuka won a bronze medal with victories over the two Germans Anna-Maria Wagner and Luise Malzahn . Two months later at the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo, she lost to the Brazilian Mayra Aguiar in the quarterfinals . After victories over the Briton Natalie Powell and the Slovenian Klara Apotekar , Kuka also received a bronze medal in Tokyo.
