Nawabganj ( Bengali : চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ), also Chapai Nawabganj , is a district in Rajshahi . In the capital of the district is the city of the same name Nawabganj , which is also the administrative center of the division. The total area of ​​the district is 1702.6 km². The district is composed of 5 Upazilas .

The northern and western parts of Nawabganj are bounded by the Indian districts of Malda and Murshidabad , the eastern by the Naogaon district and the southeast by the Rajshahi district . The district has 1,647,521 inhabitants (2011 census). The literacy rate is 42.9% of the population. Muslims made up 95.36% of the population, Hindus 4.04%, Christians 0.35% and others 0.25%.

The climate is tropical and warm all year round. The annual average temperature of this district varies from a maximum of 37.8 degrees Celsius to a minimum of 11.2 degrees. The annual rainfall is 1862 mm (2011) and the humidity is high all year round.

The economy of the district is dominated by agriculture . According to the 2011 census, 64.2% of the workforce work in agriculture, 29.2% in the service sector (mostly in informal settings) and 6.6% in industry .
