Pabna ( Bengali : পাবনা) is a district in Rajshahi . In the capital of the district forms the city of the same name Pabna . The total area of ​​the district is 2371.5 km². The district is made up of 9 Upazilas .

Pabna forms the southeastern border of the Rajshahi division. The Sirajganj district lies in the northeast, while the Padma , the main river of the Ganges , separates it from the Rajbari and Kushtia in the south . The Jamuna flows along its eastern border, separating it from Manikganj . and in the northwest it shares a border with Natore. The district has 2,523,179 inhabitants (2011 census). The literacy rate is 46.7% of the population. 90.1% of the population are Muslims , 9.5% are Hindus and 0.4% are Christians , Buddhists or others.

The climate is tropical and warm all year round. The district's average annual temperature varies from a maximum of 36.8 degrees Celsius to a minimum of 9.6 degrees. The annual rainfall is 1872 mm (2011) and the humidity is high all year round.

The economy of the district is dominated by agriculture . The textile industry and food processing are also important. According to the 2011 census, 57% of the labor force works in agriculture, 29.9% in the service sector (mostly informal) and 13.1% in industry .
