Jaipurhat ( Bengali : জয়পুরহাট), also Joypurhat , is a district in Rajshahi . In the capital of the district forms the city of the same name Jaipurhat . The total area of ​​the district is 965 km². The district is composed of 5 Upazilas . Jaipurhat used to be a subdivision of Bogra. It was upgraded to a district in 1982.

Jaipurhat is bounded to the north by Dinajpur , to the east by Gaibandha and Bogra , to the south by Bogra and Naogaon, and to the west by Naogaon and India . The district has 913,768 inhabitants (2011 census). The literacy rate is 57.5% of the population. 89.7% of the population are Muslims , 8.8% are Hindus and 1.5% are Christians , Buddhists or others.

The climate is tropical and warm all year round. The average annual temperature of this district varies from a maximum of 34.7 degrees Celsius to a minimum of 11.9 degrees. The annual rainfall is 1610 mm (2011) and the humidity is high all year round.

The economy of the district is dominated by agriculture . According to the 2011 census, 69.3% of the labor force works in agriculture, 26.6% in the service sector (mostly informal) and 4.2% in industry .
