Legend from Germerslage - "The thorn bush of the devil"

The legend was handed down in 1908 in the “Altmark Treasure of Legends”. She reports on the Breienried near Germerslage, a marshy area on which a thorn bush stood that had grown in the shape of a calyx. “At night the devil and the evil spirits gathered here to drink here,” and the cup of thorns was filled with wine. “Once there was something left over and a farmer and his wife who worked nearby enjoyed the rest.” The farmer refilled the goblet with brandy . But the devil demanded money from him ... and later took the farmer and his wife to hell that same night.

In 1994 Hanns HF Schmidt told the legend with more embellishments and Low German sayings under the name “The devilish potion”.
