geography

The Altmark village of Bürs is one kilometer west of the center of the city of Arneburg.

history

In 1277, a hinricus de burs is mentioned in a resolution of the clothing tailors and merchants' guild in Stendal. Bürs the first time in 1430 as Buers mentioned in a document in which Margrave John the Woldeck of Arneburg invested.

In the complaint of Archbishop Johann von Magdeburg from 1475 about acts of violence by the Quitzows it is reported that they stole 4 horses from the Schulzen von Borss , located by Arneburg. Further mentions are the hoff to bars in 1492 , in 1507 in Dorpp Bursz , and in 1571 the place was a desert . According to a communication from Andreas Rittner in 1729, the Swedish Colonel Barß attacked two imperial companies on the Büers sheep farm in 1642 , ruined them and "set fire to the buildings at night, so a lot of people and cattle were burned".

In 1684 there is a Vorwerk. In 1784 there is a report of a Bürs colony near Vorwerk, which was built in 1777/78 and in which 12 Büdner families lived. Wilhelm Zahn reported in 1909: "When the domain office in Tangermünde was abolished, Bürs became an independent royal domain, with a small colony established in the 18th century that now forms an independent municipality."

Today, Bürs is run as a small settlement (residential area) by Arneburg.

Incorporations

On September 30, 1928, the manor district Bürs was dissolved, whereby the main property Bürs was combined with the rural community Bürs and the sub-estate (Vorwerk) Wischer with the rural community Hassel . On December 1, 1935, the municipality of Bürs was incorporated into the city of Arneburg. On August 2, 1936, Heinrich Hölscher's seed breeding business in Arneburg, Stendal district, Stendaler Strasse 56, formerly Gut Bürs and previously Domain Bürs, as a district of the city of Arneburg, was given the name “Domain Bürs”.
