Churches

The village church in the Melkow district was built in Romanesque style around 1200 and belonged to the Jerichow Monastery until 1726 King Friedrich Wilhelm I granted patronage rights to Hans Heinrich von Katte and his descendants. The furnishings of the church were lost due to looting during the Thirty Years' War . In 1953 a Romanesque sandstone baptismal font (around 1200), presumably from an abandoned church, was set up. The church belongs to the Romanesque Road .

The village church in the Briest district was built around 1300 as an early Gothic , towerless chapel. It has been the house of the Marionettenbühne since 1985 .

The late Romanesque village church in the Sydow district was built in the middle of the 13th century. In the 18th century a mansion box was installed. A formerly wooden tower structure was replaced by the current tower in 1949.

The German Foundation for Monument Protection also contributed to the restoration of the village churches in Wust, Melkow and Briest .

The Geschichtskreis & Marionettenbühne in the parish of Wulkow / Wust (GuM) takes care of the Romanesque village churches in the districts of Wust, Melkow and Sydow as well as the early Gothic village church in the district of Briest and the Romanesque churches in Groß- and Kleinwulkow in the municipality of Wulkow . In 2006 the GuM received the silver medal of the Sachsen-Anhalt e. V. Romanesque Prize awarded.
