Local division

The districts of Flessau, Natterheide , Rönnebeck , Storbeck and Wollenrade belong to the locality of Flessau .

history

The place Flessau, which was settled by Slavs as early as the 9th century , appears for the first time in a document on the occasion of the consecration of the church .

In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the village is listed as Vlesso and Vlessow . Further mentions are 1541 Flessow , 1687 Flessow , as well as 1804 Dorf and Gut Flessau and Flessow with, among other things, 5 line weavers and 2 wheel makers , a forge and a windmill.

For a long time there had been two manors in Flessau. The owners of the 16th and 17th centuries of Wittstruck , or of Wietstruck and of Zesterfleth or Zesterfliet , Zesterfielde in the 17th century are owned by von Grave and later by von Lüderitz . Others were from Kleist, from Rauchhaupt, from Jeetze, from Rosenbruch and Räcke. The latter sold to the community in the 1820s.

Johann Joachim Lemme is named as the first village teacher, who was also a sexton , in 1818. His successor from 1834 complained that the schoolhouse was "more like a stable than a school". Flessau is still a school location for the surrounding towns.

In addition to agriculture, there have been craft businesses in Flessau since the beginning of the 18th century.

In 2000, the volunteer fire brigade in Flessau looked back on a 100-year history.

First mentioned in 1230

Ernst Haetge reported in 1938 that a copy of the consecration certificate from 1230 would be available to the church patron, the imperial count von der Schulenburg at Wolfsburg Castle . Since large parts of the Wolfsburg aristocratic archives in Neumühle Castle were destroyed in 1945 , it is not certain whether this copy has survived. On the other hand, Bekmann said in 1753 that it was a legend that the church in Flessau was built in 1230 and consecrated to Saint Peter, as there was no written record of it.

prehistory

The Neolithic stone grave in Flessau has been destroyed. Alfred Pohlmann described his location in the legend Der Steinberg near Flessau : “About 10 minutes from Flessau, about 100 paces to the right of the road to Ballerstedt, is the so-called Steinberg, from which the entire arable land in the vicinity bears the same name. Up until the separation, one of the most beautiful megalithic beds in the Altmark was located here. ”Three stones carried a large, smooth boulder like a roof over them, which made a ringing sound when hit with a hard object. He continues: "It was blown to pieces out of lack of understanding and the stones were sold."

Incorporations

From 1806, Flessau - like the entire Altmark  - belonged to the Kingdom of Westphalia for almost ten years , which relieved the farmers of some of the burdens due to the progressive civil legislation.

The municipality Flessau was on 25 July 1952 by the district Osterburg in the district Osterburg reclassified. On June 1, 1973 the communities Rönnebeck, Storbeck and Wollenrade from the Osterburg district were incorporated into Flessau. On February 15, 1974 Natterheide was incorporated into Flessau. On July 1, 1994, the municipality of Flessau and its districts became part of the Stendal district.

The municipal councils of the municipalities Ballerstedt (on November 24, 2008), Düsedau (on November 12, 2008), Erxleben (on November 10, 2008), Flessau (on November 27, 2008), Gladigau (on November 26, 2008), Königsmark (on November 25, 2008), Krevese (on November 12, 2008), Meseberg (on November 19, 2008), Rossau (on November 10, 2008), Walsleben (on November 10, 2008) and the Hanseatic City Osterburg (Altmark) (on November 6, 2008) decided that their communities should be dissolved and united into a new unified community called the Hanseatic City of Osterburg (Altmark) . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on July 1, 2009.

After the implementation of the territorial change agreement of the previously independent municipality of Flessau, Flessau, Natterheide, Rönnebeck, Storbeck and Wollenrade will become districts of the new Hanseatic city of Osterburg (Altmark). For the included municipality, the local constitution according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt is introduced. The incorporated municipality of Flessau and the future districts of Flessau, Natterheide, Rönnebeck, Storbeck and Wollenrade will become the locality of the new Hanseatic city of Osterburg (Altmark). A local council with nine members including the local mayor is formed in the incorporated municipality and now the village of Flessau.
