Wolterslage belongs to the village of Königsmark and is part of the Hanseatic city of Osterburg (Altmark) in the district of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Wolterslage, an elongated Marschhufendorf village , is located on Wolterslager Strassegraben, about two kilometers north of Königsmark and about 7½ kilometers northeast of Osterburg in the Altmärkische Wische conservation area , a lowland area between the Elbe and Biese rivers .

The Wolterslage district is bounded in the north and east by the Beverlake and in the south by approximately the Seegraben Iden.

Neighboring towns are Meseberg and Wenddorf in the west, Rethhausen in the northwest, Rengerslage in the east, Wasmerslage and Königsmark in the south.

Subdivision breakdown

In addition to the village of Wolterslage, the residential areas Blankensee and Rethhausen belong to the district of Wolterslage .

At the beginning of the 19th century there was a windmill, the Woltersmühle, also known as Eckerts-Mühle, southeast of Wolterslage at Seegraben Iden (Great Watering), possibly identical to the Eggertsmühle residential area, which is listed at the end of the 19th century.

history

Wolterslage was mentioned for the first time in 1232 when provost, prioress and convent of the Benedictine convent in Arendsee sold the Stendal Nikolaikirche, among other things, an interest of 10 shillings that they owned in Wolterslage . 1343 pointed Margrave Ludwig the Dequede of the Bede of 8½ hooves to wolterslaghe silver to the value of 20 marks. Further mentions are 1542 Wolterschlage , 1687 Wolterschlage , 1804 village and Gut Wolterschlage with windmill. In 1842 it was called Wolterslage as it is today .

Agriculture

Wolterslage manor house

From 1618 until the beginning of the 19th century, the manor was, with interruptions, owned by von Redern . In 1823, the von Bandemer family passed the estate to the von Knoblauch auf Osterholz family , who owned it until 1913. In 1928 the estate belonged to Fritz Friedrichs.

During the land reform in 1945, the following were determined: three properties over 100 hectares with a total of 378 hectares, 26 properties under 100 hectares with a total of 632 hectares, one church property had 3.5 hectares. The estate and a farm with a total of 284.8 hectares were expropriated. In 1948, 25 full settlers each over 5 hectares and 19 small settlers each under 5 hectares acquired land from the land reform. In 1953 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG “7. October ”, later the LPG Type I“ Black Earth ”, which was signed to LPG Type III in 1968. In 1974 the LPG dispatched "25 Years of the GDR" to Königsmark.

Landhaus Menner was a catering and agricultural business of the Menner family from 2005 to the end of 2014. The traditional stable Christmas, which was organized together with the Königsmark cultural and sports association, was particularly well known.

In March 2017 it was reported that a wolf had killed a pregnant dam cow in a fallow deer enclosure in Wolterslage.

Origin of the place name

"Wolter" is a person's name. The second part of the name “location” stands for “boundary sign” or “area”.

Incorporations

The Wolterslage manor district was probably united with the Wolterslage rural community before 1905 . On April 1, 1936, the communities Blankensee and Rethhausen from the district of Osterburg were incorporated into the community Wolterslage. Since then, the places have been run as Wolterslage's residential areas. On July 25, 1952, the community Wolterslage was reclassified from the district of Osterburg to the district of Osterburg . On January 1, 1974, the municipality of Wolterslage was incorporated into the municipality of Königsmark.

On July 1, 2009, the municipality of Königsmark merged with other municipalities to form the new unified municipality of the Hanseatic City of Osterburg (Altmark). The district Wolterslage came to the new place Königsmark and the Hanseatic city Osterburg (Altmark).
