The COVID-19 pandemic has been occurring in the Sahara Democratic Arab Republic since March 2020 as part of the global COVID-19 pandemic that began in China in December 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic affects the novel disease COVID-19 . This is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Coronaviridae group and belongs to the group of respiratory diseases . From March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic .

On April 1, 2020, the first 2 COVID-19 cases were reported in the Sahara Arab Democratic Republic. No deaths were known as of May 22, 2020. Only one person had to be hospitalized in Dakhla . No cases had occurred in the refugee camps or in the free zone until April 30th .

On June 5, the first Covid-19 death was confirmed in Tindouf Governorate.
