COVID-19 pandemic in St. Kitts and Nevis

The COVID-19 pandemic has been occurring in St. Kitts and Nevis since March 2020 as part of the global COVID-19 pandemic that began in China in December 2019. The pandemic affects the novel disease COVID-19 . This is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Coronaviridae group and belongs to the group of respiratory diseases . From March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic.

On March 24, 2020, the first two COVID-19 cases were confirmed in St. Kitts and Nevis. These two cases first appeared in the WHO Situation Report on March 26, 2020.

On March 28, 2020, St. Kitts and Nevis recorded five more cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to seven. A government official said in a statement that all five of these cases are travel-related, meaning these cases have been imported into St. Kitts and Nevis. On March 29, 2020, St. Kitts and Nevis recorded another case of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to eight.

Another case of COVID-19 was confirmed by the Department of Health in St. Kitts and Nevis on April 6, 2020. The total number of positive cases was eleven diseases. Up to this point there had been seven cases of the novel coronavirus on St. Kitts and four on Nevis.

On April 9, 2020, a one-week curfew began until April 16, 2020.

Two more cases of COVID-19 were reported on April 14, 2020. The total number of confirmed cases has increased to fourteen since the first case was reported on March 25. All fourteen cases were strictly isolated. In addition, another 111 people were quarantined at home. As of April 14, 234 people had been tested. Of these, 187 were negative test results and the results of 33 other people were still pending at this point in time.

As of April 19, 2020, the WHO had confirmed 14 COVID-19 cases in St. Kitts and Nevis.
