In Singapore, on January 2 and 3, 2020, a start was made to identify all patients with lung diseases who had previously entered the Wuhan region and to measure a fever at the airport on all travelers arriving from Wuhan. In January, the alert levels and contact tracing were gradually expanded. On January 31, 2020, entry from Hubei was banned and 700 people who were there previously were isolated. Residents from China had to isolate themselves for two weeks from then on. After the alarm level “DORSCON orange” was declared, food and basic necessities were often sold out. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong called for calm in a video address on social networks; supplies are plentiful, the city is not being cordoned off, and not all citizens are ordered to stay at home, as has happened in China, South Korea or Italy.

As of February 19, 84 infected people had been treated in clinics, of which 4 came to the intensive care unit. As of March 16, there were 121 confirmed COVID-19 cases; almost as many patients were discharged as cured.

These measures have been effective and include social distancing of at least one meter. Restaurants, coffee shops, and hawker centers should be 1 meter apart, and stickers or tapes have been placed for social distancing. Violations could face jail sentences of up to 6 months, fines of up to 10,000 Singapore dollars, or both.

Therefore, the task force announced that the stadiums will be closed and further measures tightened if the population does not comply with the regulations. In addition, parents are not allowed to leave their children with their grandparents on a daily basis to protect seniors from infections.

In order to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak in dormitories for foreign workers, it was announced that various measures would be taken to reduce transmission: workers would stop preparing their own meals, these would be provided for them; Disinfection and garbage collection would be expanded. At the same time, it was announced that the well-off overseas workers who worked in critical services would be housed in alternative accommodations such as HDB blocks bought under the SERS, military camps such as Bedok Camp and Jurong Camp , Changi Exhibition Center and offshore hotels.

During the embargo, National Development Secretary Lawrence Wong announced that all parks would be closed to the public.
