COVID-19 pandemic in Azerbaijan

The COVID-19 pandemic is occurring in Azerbaijan as part of the global COVID-19 pandemic that started in China in December 2019. The pandemic affects the novel disease COVID-19 . This is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Coronaviridae group and belongs to the group of respiratory diseases . From March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic.

On February 28, 2020, the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Azerbaijan. In the WHO situation reports, the first three cases first appeared on March 1, 2020.

As of April 5, 2020, 512 COVID-19 cases and five deaths had been confirmed in Azerbaijan by the WHO.
