COVID-19 pandemic in Jordan

The COVID-19 pandemic is occurring in Jordan as part of the global COVID-19 pandemic that began in China in December 2019. The pandemic affects the novel disease COVID-19 . This is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Coronaviridae group and belongs to the group of respiratory diseases . From March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic.

On March 2, 2020, the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Jordan. This case first appeared in the WHO situation reports on March 3, 2020.

On March 21, 2020, there were over 100 and on May 7, over 500 people infected. On June 17, the thousandth infected person was reported. By mid-July 2020 there were only twice more than 30 infected people in one day. By May 25, 2020, 9 people with Covid 19 had died. There was only one death in the following month and a half.

  3. In WHO report No. 197 (August 4, 2020) the number of deaths was increased by 11 to 22, whereas in WHO report No. 198 (August 5, 2020) it was again reduced by 11. Since it is apparently a statistical error, the number of deaths was also given here on August 4, 2020 as 11.
