COVID-19 pandemic in Bahrain

The COVID-19 pandemic is occurring in Bahrain as part of the global COVID-19 pandemic that started in China in December 2019. The pandemic affects the novel disease COVID-19 . This is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Coronaviridae group and belongs to the group of respiratory diseases . From March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic.

On February 21, 2020, the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Bahrain. The first eight cases appeared in the WHO situation reports for the first time on February 25, 2020.

As of April 8, 2020, the WHO has confirmed 811 COVID-19 cases and five deaths in Bahrain.
