COVID-19 pandemic in Algeria
The COVID-19 pandemic is occurring in Algeria as part of the global COVID-19 pandemic that began in China in December 2019. The pandemic affects the novel disease COVID-19 . This is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Coronaviridae group and belongs to the group of respiratory diseases . From March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic.

On February 25, 2020, the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Algeria. It was a man from Italy. 34 contacts were quarantined . This case first appeared in the WHO situation reports on February 26, 2020.
As of April 6, 2020, the WHO had confirmed 1251 COVID-19 cases and 130 deaths in Algeria.
A total of eleven cases had been diagnosed by March 3. On March 25, 264 infected people were known; 17 people had died of the disease by then. On April 4, there were 1251 infected people; The curfews have been extended, including in the capital Algiers and eight other provinces, to a range from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m.
