The COVID-19 pandemic occurs in the Federated States of Micronesia is not yet officially in appearance. Preventive measures have been taken in the country, but no confirmed diseases have been reported to the World Health Organization (WHO). The island state is thus one of only about a dozen countries on earth in which there are currently no SARS-CoV-2 infected people (as of June 10, 2020).

The COVID-19 pandemic is occurring as part of the global COVID-19 pandemic that began in China in December 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic affects the novel disease COVID-19 . This is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the Coronaviridae group and belongs to the group of respiratory diseases . From March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic .

The Federated States of Micronesia are an island nation in the western part of the Pacific Ocean with about 102,000 inhabitants. This state consists of 605 islands that extend over a huge marine area. The Promoted States consist of the states of Pohnpei , Kosrae , Chuuk and Yap and are a developing country characterized by agriculture, fishing and high unemployment.

There are health centers on the islands of Chuuk, Pohnpei and Yap.

On February 3, 2020, the President of the Federated States of Micronesia, David Panuelo , signed a statement banning Micronesian citizens from entering China and other affected countries.

On March 5, Micronesia introduced a strict travel ban that banned anyone who had been in China since January 2020 or any other country affected by the COVID-19 pandemic from entering Micronesia. As of March 18, all schools in the state were closed as a precaution.

President Panuelo announced a $ 15 million economic development program in April 2020 with a focus on financial aid for wages.
