The province of Adrar ( Arabic ولاية أدرار, DMG Wilāyat Adrār , tamazight ⴰⴳⴻⵣⴷⵓ ⵏ ⴰⴷⵔⴰⵔ Agezdu n Adrar ) is a Wilaya (province) in southwestern Algeria . The capital of the province is Adrar , another city is Reggane .
The province is located in the Sahara and is the second largest province of Algeria in terms of area. In the southwest it borders a short distance on Mauritania and six other provinces: Tindouf and Béni Abbès in the west, Timimoun in the north, In Salah in the east, Tamanrasset in the southeast and Bordj Badji Mokhtar in the south. The center of the province is formed by the communes of the oasis region of the Twat on the Oued Messaoud , in the west it includes the center of the Erg Chech and in the east it shares in the plain of the Tidikelt .
With 256,765 inhabitants (as of 2008) on 254,471 km², it is only sparsely populated, the population density is around 1 inhabitant per square kilometer.
In December 2019, the northern and southern parts of Adrar Province were separated and the independent provinces of Timimoun and Bordj Badji Mokhtar were created. The area decreased from 439,700 km² by 185,229 km² (42.1%) and the population of 399,714 inhabitants by 142,949 inhabitants (35.8%). The number of municipalities decreased from 28 to 16.

The municipalities 3, 7, 9, 10, 16, 17, 20, 23, 24 and 27 have since formed the province of Timimoun, the municipalities 25 and 28 the province of Bordj Badji Mokhtar.
