The Illizi Province ( Arabic ولاية إليزي, DMG Wilāyat Illīzī , tamazight ⴰⴳⴻⵣⴷⵓ ⵏ ⵉⵍⵍⵉⵣⵉ Agezdu n Illizi ) is a province ( wilaya ) in southeastern Algeria .

The province is located in the Sahara , bordered by Tunisia and Libya to the east, the Djanet province to the south, the Tamanrasset and In Salah provinces to the west and the Ouargla province to the north .

In December 2019, the southern part of the Illizi province with the municipalities of Bordj El Haouas and Djanet , reaching as far as Niger , was separated and the independent Djanet province was created.

The area of ​​the Illizi province is now 198,815 km². With 34,715 inhabitants (Statistics 2008) it is extremely sparsely populated, the population density is therefore only around 0.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. Many of the residents are Tuareg .

The capital of the province is Illizi , other larger towns are Bordj Omar Driss , Debdeb , In Aménas , Ohanet .
