The province of Ouargla or Wargla ( Arabic ولاية ورقلة, DMG Wilāyat Warqala ) is a province ( wilaya ) in eastern Algeria .

The province is located in the Sahara and borders Tunisia and Libya to the east , with an area of ​​211,980 km² it encompasses the center and the south of the Grand Erg Oriental .

558,558 people (2008 statistics) inhabit the province, the population density is around 2.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. Parts of the population speak Berber languages such as Mzab-Wargla .

The capital of the province is Ouargla (Wargla), other well-known cities are Touggourt and Hassi Messaoud .
