University Music Director
University Music Director in Germany is a university office with the task of shaping and coordinating musical life at a university. At some universities the office is also called Academic Music Director . Depending on the vacancy different tasks are involved: management of the Collegium Musicum , the high school orchestra , the choir of the University and other musical ensembles of the University. In addition to studying music or musicology, the professional requirements include training or experience in conducting both in the orchestra and in the choir. While the office was traditionally reserved for men, there are now a number of women who hold the office and then bear the title of university music director or academic music director .
Some of the positions are assigned to the musicological institutes, while the ensembles are open to all members of the university.
