Bordj Badji Mokhtar ( Arabic ولاية برج باجي مختار, DMG Wilāyat Burǧ Bāǧī Muḫtār ) is a province ( wilaya ) in the south of Algeria with Bordj Badji Mokhtar as the capital.
The province newly created in December 2019 was previously the southern part of Adrar Province . It is located in the Sahara and borders Mali in the southwest and three other provinces: Adrar in the north and Tamanrasset and In Guezzam in the east.
With 20,930 inhabitants (as of 2008) on 120,026 km² it is only very sparsely populated, the population density is around 0.17 inhabitants per square kilometer.
