geography

Schilddorf is located at the southern entrance to Osterburg. The Schaugraben flows to the south and east of the village, into which the Erxleben Weidegraben flows.

history

Today's Schilddorf residential area was built under the name Schildhof after the separation of the Osterburg field mark , probably after 1840 through the establishment of an establishment on a desert field mark. The Schildhof , a Meierhof, is recorded on the measuring table from 1873 . In the register of the parish lexicon from 1873, the place where Osterburg lived is called Schilddorf , as it is on later measuring table sheets and in the parish lexicons.

In 1922 Gut Schilddorf covered 211 hectares. In 1928, the remaining 80 hectares belonged to Kurt Ohse.

A few hundred meters north of the village was the Osterburg-Schilddorf stop on the Osterburg-Pretzier railway line .

Already in 1986 the place was what is called an industrial park today. The VEB Getreidewirtschaft Stendal maintained an operating part and a storage facility in Schilddorf, just like the VEB Kraftverkehr Stendal. The LPG plant production "Victory of Socialism" operated the Schilddorf base and the Osterburg dairy combine had its main operation in Schilddorf.

Schiltdorf desert

The first mention comes from the year 1289, when the desert Feldmark Schiltorpe came from the margrave to the citizens of Osterburg. It comprised 16 hooves , the Oberland, the heather and woody plants. In 1427 Margrave Johann enfeoffed the Osterburg citizen Gerke Spiegel with 9 bushels of rye on half a schiltdorffhe . Other mentions are 1430 Schiltdorf , 1446 Schiltorp and 1598 vber schildorffes huefe .

In 1647, Schilddorf formed a closed field march with its own laws and regulations. In the Osterburger Magistratregistratur the “Wrügenrechte über den Huffen und Acker, so zur Schilttorf” is handed down, which was published in 1863 as a copy. Under point 5 it says: "Anyone who causes a displeasure in the Wrüge with bickering or brawling, gives a roast goose." The owners of the district, who chose two Schulzen, 1647 for one year, from 1697 for six years, lived in Osterburg .

Heinrich Christoph Steinhart reported in 1800: “From Erxleben to Osterburg the route goes through a pleasant oak grove called Schildtorf. The trench flowing through, which separates the Erxlebensche, Möckernsche and Osterburg field marks, is also called Schildtorf, and has been exposed for several years because an insignificant stone in it caused a protracted and very valuable process. "

Wilhelm Zahn wrote in 1902 that a field called “das Schilddorf” was 700 meters southeast of Schilddorf, already on the corridor of the village of Düsedau . He wrote: "The exact location of the old village can no longer be determined, it was probably near the Schildhof."

The neighboring country was called "the kingdom of heaven". Beckmann wrote in 1753: "In front of the Stendaler Thore in front of the Schiltorf there is a place on the right hand, something overgrown with wood and the kingdom of heaven, as on the other side a place is called hell."
