Rethhausen is a residential area in the Wolterslage district in the village of Königsmark in the Hanseatic city of Osterburg (Altmark) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Rethhausen or Rethausen , a Marschhufendorf village , is located on the Wolterslager Straßengraben, about three kilometers north of Königsmark and about 7 kilometers northeast of Osterburg in the Altmärkische Wische conservation area , a lowland area between the Elbe and Biese rivers .

Neighboring towns are Blankensee in the west, Wolterslage in the southeast, Königsmark in the south, and Wenddorf and Meseberg in the southwest.

history

In 1518 the place was mentioned as tho Rethusen , the von Jagow had rights over the village and an Erbwische . In 1687 the place was called Rehthausen and until 1697 the von Bismarck family owned a farm there, which they exchanged for the von Grävenitz estate in 1697 for the Neukirchen manor . In 1842 the village is called Rethhausen and in 1804 Rethausen .

The most common spelling today is Rethhausen , although Rethausen is also common, and both spellings can be found on the Top50 CD from 2003.

Origin of the place name

"Reth" is a proper name derived from "rado", "reth" for "the council" or "hrad" for "famous".

Incorporations

On April 1, 1936, the communities of Rethhausen and Blankensee from the district of Osterburg were incorporated into the community of Wolterslage . Since then, Rethhausen and Blankensee have been run by Wolterslage as residential areas. On July 25, 1952, the community Wolterslage was reclassified from the district of Osterburg to the district of Osterburg . On January 1, 1974, the municipality of Wolterslage was incorporated into the municipality of Königsmark.

On July 1, 2009, the municipality of Königsmark merged with other municipalities to form the new unified municipality of the Hanseatic City of Osterburg (Altmark). The district of Wolterslage with the residential areas Rethhausen and Blankensee thus became the new village of Königsmark and the Hanseatic city of Osterburg (Altmark).

The Protestant Christians from Rethhausen are parishioners in the Wolterslage parish, formerly part of the Königsmark parish near Osterburg in the Altmark. The parish Wolterslage is now looked after by the parish area Königsmark in the church district Stendal in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
