Klein Ballerstedt belongs to the village of Ballerstedt and is a district of the Hanseatic city of Osterburg (Altmark) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Klein Ballerstedt, a short street village with a church, is located 6 kilometers southwest of Osterburg and 1.5 kilometers northwest of Ballerstedt in the Altmark . To the northeast of the village is the Taterbusch forest.

Neighboring towns are Wollenrade in the southwest, Flessau in the northwest, Storbeck in the north, Erxleben in the northeast, Polkau in the east, Rochau in the southeast and Grävenitz in the southwest.

history

Klein Ballerstedt was first mentioned in 1278 as in villa nostra videlicet paruo balrestede , when the Margraves Johann, Otto and Konrad sold income from Ballerstedt to the cathedral chapter in Stendal . In 1336 dat dorp tu lutticken ballerstede was awarded by Margrave Ludwig to two citizens of the city of Stendal . In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the village is listed as Lutken Ballerstede and Balrestede . Another mention is 1687 Lütken Ballerstedt . In 1804 the village was called Klein Ballerstedt and there was a carpenter.

Incorporations

The independent rural communities Groß Ballerstedt and Klein Ballerstedt in the district of Osterburg were merged on April 1, 1939 to form a community with the name Ballerstedt.

On July 1, 2009 the municipality of Ballerstedt was combined with other municipalities to form the new unified municipality of the Hanseatic City of Osterburg (Altmark) . With that, Klein Ballerstedt came as a district to the newly formed village of Ballerstedt and also as a district to Osterburg.

The Evangelical parish of Klein Ballerstedt used to belong to the Ballerstedt parish in Groß Ballerstedt.

The church community Klein Ballerstedt is now looked after by the parish area Osterburg in the church district Stendal in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

According to Ernst Machholz, the oldest surviving church registers for Klein Ballerstedt date from 1804. Earlier entries can be found in Groß Ballerstedt. Ernst Haetge, however, states that the oldest church books and church account books date from 1674.
