After two years in East Frisia, Löning then moved to SV Wilhelmshaven in the 2004/05 season . In the 2005/06 season Frank Löning scored five goals in four games for Wilhelmshaven in the Oberliga Nord .

For the 2006/07 season , Frank Löning then moved on to the second team from Werder Bremen . Here he played for two years in the Regionalliga Nord , where he scored 17 goals in 54 games. He also played in the first team in the league cup against FC Bayern Munich . Frank Löning was also active in the DFB Cup . In the 2007/08 season he played three times for Werder Bremen's second team in the cup, where the team sensationally fought its way into the third round as a regional league team. In the first round, 1. FC Köln were defeated 4-2, to which Löning contributed with a goal. In the second round, FC St. Pauli was defeated on penalties and only in the third round came the end against VfB Stuttgart .

Löning made his fourth cup appearance in the 2008/09 season for SC Paderborn 07 , when they lost to FC Augsburg on penalties . Löning scored his first professional goal on the sixth match day of the 3rd league against FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt (final score: 2-0), with a total of 14 goals this season he contributed to reaching 3rd place. He then scored the winning goals in both games in the 2008/09 relegation against VfL Osnabrück , which meant promotion to the second division. After the end of the 2009/10 season , in which he was mostly only used as a substitute and only scored three goals, his contract with Paderborn was no longer extended.

Löning moved back to the 3rd division at SV Sandhausen , where he found his old strength and was the team's best striker with 13 goals and 34 games. In the 2011/12 season he was able to repeat his 13 goals this season and this time the Palatinate even managed the third division championship, which Löning rose to the 2nd Bundesliga for the second time in his career. In the 2012/13 season , the attacker scored eleven goals before he had to end the season early shortly before the 29th matchday due to a cartilage damage in his knee.

On January 3, 2014 Löning moved within the league to FC Erzgebirge Aue . He signed a contract until June 30, 2015. After a year, during the winter break of 2014/15 , he switched to the third division Chemnitzer FC again , for whom he scored six goals in 29 games in the third division. After a year, Löning switched to the Regionalliga-West to Rot-Weiss Essen during the 2015/16 winter break , with whom he won the Niederrhein Cup in the same year with a 3-0 final win against Wuppertaler SV . The following season, he was set back from injuries. On March 31, 2017, Frank Löning terminated his contract with Rot-Weiss Essen and ended his professional career. He then returned to SV Sandhausen. Here he has been the fan representative since the beginning of May 2017 , and he also looks after the club's youngsters. As an active footballer, Löning played again for the seventh-class state league promoted Badenia St. Ilgen in the 2017/18 season , before moving to SG Heidelberg-Kirchheim ( Baden association league ) and VfB Germania Wiesmoor (Weser-Ems 1 district league). At the end of the 2019 season, he finally ended his career as an active football player.
