Sebastian Pelzer (born September 24, 1980 in Trier ) is a former German soccer player and today's scout . Mostly used as a left or center defender , the former youth national player of the DFB played a total of 130 games in the 2nd Bundesliga for Eintracht Trier , 1. FC Saarbrücken , Rot Weiss Ahlen and Hansa Rostock .

He is currently a scout with the MLS - Franchise Chicago Fire made.

Career as a player

Beginnings in Rhineland-Palatinate

The defensive player, who grew up in Bekond , began his career in the youth teams of the Rhineland-Palatinate clubs SV Bekond, SV Föhren and FSV Salmrohr . For Salmrohr he became a youth national player. Subsequently, however, Pelzer moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern , for whose amateur team he finally became active in the men's area. He was not used in the 1999/2000 season of the third-class Regionalliga West / Southwest , so he had no part in the team's relegation to the fourth-class Oberliga Südwest . After the successful direct resurgence in 2000/01, Pelzer played 28 times for Kaiserslautern in the Regionalliga (Season South) in the 2001/02 season, scoring a total of two goals.

Pelzer in England

Although Kaiserslautern showed interest in a further collaboration, Pelzer moved to England in the summer of 2002 , where he joined the Blackburn Rovers . In Blackburn, Pelzer signed a two-year contract, while Blackburn's transfer payment to Kaiserslautern was initially agreed not to disclose. In media reports, however, a transfer payment of £ 370,000 was reported. For the professional team of the Rovers, Pelzer came in the following 18 months of his association with the club, also due to several injuries, to only one appearance in the League Cup on November 6, 2002 against FC Walsall , while he was in league operations exclusively for the reserve team in the Premier Reserve League played. At the beginning of 2004, Pelzer dissolved his contract with the Rovers and returned to Germany, where he signed a contract with SV Eintracht Trier until the summer of 2006.

Return to Germany

For the Trier second division , Pelzer then completed 15 missions in the second half of the 2003/04 season , in which the relegation-threatened team was able to work its way from 16th to 11th place and so achieved relegation. In 2004/05 Trier then rose as 15th in the final table in the regional league. Pelzer had played another 30 second division appearances during the season and was able to score his first goal for Trier in these, but he had lost his regular place in the defensive chain of Eintracht to Jésus Sinisterra . In order to be able to play in the second division in the future, Pelzer then switched to former league rivals 1. FC Saarbrücken in the summer of 2005 , with whom he initially agreed on a one-year contract. After 26 appearances for Saarbrücken in the 2005/06 season , Pelzer was relegated to the regional league with the Saarlanders from the 2nd Bundesliga.

Pelzer at Dynamo Dresden

Pelzer did not find a new club until he was signed by the regional league team Dynamo Dresden in October 2006 and played 22 more missions for them in the 2006/07 season , in which he became a crowd favorite. In addition, he won the Saxony Cup with Dresden this season . Pelzer had recently led the Dresden team as captain, but was aiming for a move to the second English division for the 2007/08 season and therefore rejected Dynamo's offer to extend his contract. He then completed trial training at Hull City and Plymouth Argyle , but decided in August 2007 for Dresden, where he signed a new contract for two seasons. As a result, Pelzer was accused of having only viewed Dresden as a stopgap solution, so that he was controversial both within the team and among the fans. Nevertheless, Pelzer led the team in the Regionalliga season 2007/08 as captain in the newly created 3rd division in the summer of 2008 , in which he himself played 28 appearances. In the third division, Pelzer finally completed ten games during the first half of the 2008/09 season , but got into a form crisis due to an ankle injury, which sometimes brought him massive hostility from the Dresden fans. He also came into conflict within the team, especially with his teammate Maik Wagefeld . On December 10, 2009, Pelzer passed the captaincy on to Wagefeld and a few weeks later asked for permission to leave Dynamo.

Via Ahlen to Rostock

In January 2010, Pelzer finally dissolved his contract with Dynamo Dresden and moved to Rot Weiss Ahlen in the 2nd Bundesliga. There he signed a contract dated June 30, 2010, and completed ten more games for Ahlen in the second half of the 2008/09 season . After another 25 appearances in the 2009/10 season , Pelzer and Ahlen were relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga - it was his third overall relegation from Germany's second-highest division. For the rebuilding of the team in the 3rd division, Pelzer, who had meanwhile also played in the reserve team Ahlens, no longer played a role in the club management's plans, so his expiring contract was not extended.

With FC Hansa Rostock , who had been relegated to the 3rd league together with Ahlen, Pelzer found a new employer who signed him as a designated leader. Mohammed Lartey and Michael Wiemann from Ahlen also came to Rostock together with Pelzer . As a result, Pelzer was appointed captain of the team by coach Peter Vollmann and completed 37 league games during the 2010/11 season , with which he contributed to the direct rise of Hansa as second in the table. As a result of the resurgence, Pelzer's contract, originally dated 2012, was automatically extended for another year to 2013. In addition, Pelzer won the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Cup with Hansa this season .

In the first half of the 2011/12 second division season , Pelzer continued to be one of Hansa's regular defenders with 14 appearances. After the relegation-threatened FC Hansa had replaced coach Vollmann with Wolfgang Wolf at the end of the first half of the season, he increasingly used Michael Blum or Timo Perthel as left-backs, especially from mid-May , so that Pelzer only made ten appearances in the second half of the season. Ultimately, however, the team did not succeed in preventing relegation to the third division, which also meant that Pelzer's contract with Hansa lost its validity.

Pelzer then signed a new one-year contract and established himself again as a regular in the Rostock external defense in the following season 2012/13 . As the season progressed, Pelzer had to help out more and more in central defense under coach Marc Fascher , who was now employed as Wolf's successor , but could not prevent Hansa from being in danger of relegation. In his 26th season outing , Pelzer finally broke his toe several times , as a result of which he had to pause for the rest of the season. Even before the Rostock team finally achieved relegation, Pelzer extended his expiring contract with Hansa for two more years until 2015. After the contract ended, Pelzer ended his career at FC Hansa Rostock.
