Stephan Gusche (born February 13, 1990 in Schwerin ) is a German football player who can be used as a left-footed defensive player in central defense as well as in the sixth position. Gusche began his career at Hansa Rostock in the 2nd Bundesliga and the 3rd division .

Career

Youth in Schwerin and Rostock

The left-footed defensive player joined FC Eintracht Schwerin in his hometown at the age of six, and went through its youth departments over the next eight years. In 2004 he followed his older brother Gerald, who had already taken this step, and moved to the youth department of FC Hansa Rostock .

For Rostock Gusche first played a season in the C-youth , moved up to the B-youth in summer 2005 and completed his first appearance for Hansa's A-youth in the U-19-Bundesliga at the end of the 2005/06 season . Subsequently, Gusche came to another twelve missions for Rostock's A-youth in the 2006/07 season , while in the same period he continued to play for the B-youth of the Ostseestädter.

Beginnings at Hansa Rostock

After he had completed 16 more missions in his first regular season as A-youth in 2007/08 , he moved up to the men's division of FC Hansa in summer 2008 as an 18-year-old, where he joined the reserve team under coach Thomas in the fourth-class regional league Finck was assigned. He also began training as an industrial clerk , which he later broke off to devote himself entirely to his footballing career. Due to a spinal disc incident, Gusche was not used in Rostock's reserve team during the first half of the 2008/09 regional league . Instead, he ran after his rehabilitation in the second half of the U-19 season 2008/09 again for the A-youth of the club.

During the same period, Hansa's licensed team was in danger of relegation in the 2008/09 second division season , so that Andreas Zachhuber was used as their coach in March 2009. One of Zachhuber's first steps as a person in charge was to appoint Gush to the licensing team. It was only afterwards that he made his debut on March 22, 2009 for the reserve team, now managed by Axel Rietentiet , where he also scored his first goal in the men's area. Due to a cheekbone fracture, which he suffered during his fourth assignment for Hansa II, Gusche was initially no longer deployed. It was not until May 24, 2009, the last game day of the season, that he finally made his debut for Rostock's second division team when he was substituted on in the final minutes of the game against Wehen Wiesbaden .

In the second division season 2009/10 Gusche was still twice as a substitute in Rostock's licensed team, but played mainly for the regional league team, to whose relegation he contributed in the 2009/10 season with 20 appearances. At the end of the season, however, the first team occupied 16th place in the table and lost the following relegation games against Ingolstadt , with which the club was third-rate for the first time in its history and the reserve team withdrew to the league for cost reasons .

Gusche then used the preparation for the third division season 2010/11 to recommend himself as a regular for the licensed team now trained by Peter Vollmann , whereby he also benefited from a protracted injury to his teammate Matthias Holst . In his eleventh third division appearance on the 12th match day against Heidenheim , Gusche tore a cruciate ligament in October 2010, as a result of which he was out for several months. Without Gush's further participation, the team finally achieved direct promotion back to the 2nd Bundesliga and also won the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Cup , in which Gusche made his only appearance in the second round in October 2010.

At the beginning of the following season Gusche had recovered from his cruciate ligament injury, but then suffered several muscular injuries in succession, so that he was only able to recommend himself to the professional team again from September 2011 through several appearances in Rostock's top division team. In the first half of the second division season 2011/12 he came only to a substitute, while he was able to complete six A missions in the same period of the Oberliga season 2011/12 .

After the winter break, Gusche established himself again in Rostock's professional team, which was no longer trained by Peter Vollmann, but by Wolfgang Wolf due to the impending relegation . Under this Gusche then completed eight more missions in the starting line-up until he got a red card on matchday 27 and was subsequently suspended for four games. Although he was therefore initially unable to participate in the relegation battle, Gusche extended his contract with Hansa, which was running out at the end of the season, for another year in April 2012. In the last two games of the season, Gusche was back on Rostock's starting line-up and was even able to score his first two professional goals in both games, but Hansa was finally relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga to the 3rd division as bottom of the table.

Before the 14th matchday of the 2012/13 season , Gusche suffered another cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee during training, so that the team now supervised by coach Marc Fascher without Gush's involvement was in danger of relegation. Already two game days before the end of the season, the league competitor SV Wehen Wiesbaden announced Gush's commitment to the following season.

In Wiesbaden , Gusche initially received a one-year contract for the 2013/14 season and was trained by Peter Vollmann , who Gusche also knows from his time on Hansa's professional team , together with his former Hansa teammates Michael Wiemann and Robert Müller . On July 27, 2013, after 2010 and 2012, he tore his third cruciate ligament, this time on his right knee. He also suffered an external meniscus tear and an internal ligament tear. In the summer of 2014, his contract was not renewed.
