North German Latest News (abbreviated: NNN ) is the local edition of the daily Schweriner Volkszeitung for Rostock and the surrounding area. It appears as an independent newspaper title, but forms a journalistic unit together with the Schweriner Volkszeitung . The sold circulation is 5990 copies, a decrease of 58.5 percent since 1998.
The newspaper was founded under this title on February 16, 1953 as the daily newspaper of the National Democratic Party of Germany (NDPD) and appeared accordingly in the three northern districts of the GDR , the districts of Rostock , Schwerin and Neubrandenburg . In the other districts the Saxon , Thuringian , Brandenburg and Central German Latest News appeared as regional editions . The National-Zeitung was published as the central organ of the NDPD .
In 1991 the media group Hubert Burda Media bought the North German Latest News , in 2005 it sold it together with the Schweriner Volkszeitung to the Schleswig-Holstein newspaper publisher . The North German Latest News GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the newspaper publisher Schwerin GmbH & Co KG , in which the Schweriner People's newspaper appears.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification, the NNN, like other GDR newspapers, distanced themselves from their political past. She also separated from her sports editor Lutz Dessau in summer 2001 after his membership in the NPD became known.
