Saxon Latest News (SNN) was the title of the district newspaper of the National Democratic Party of Germany (NDPD) published from April 15, 1952 to August 31, 1990 in Dresden . It developed from a Dresden district newspaper to a Saxon state newspaper, most recently with the subtitle Landeszeitung für Politik, Wirtschaft, Kultur, Sport and had its readership mainly in the three Saxon GDR districts of Dresden , Leipzig and Karl-Marx-Stadt , from which 1990 largely the Free State of Saxony was formed.

The first copy of the SNN was published in 1952 in the Saxon state capital Dresden . It was published by the Dresden District Association of the National Democratic Party of Germany. The responsible editor in 1990 was Michael Weichelt . From 1985 texts by Karl May appeared in the SNN .

From 1952, the headquarters of the editorial team was in the house at Antonstrasse 8 in Dresden. The local editorial office was located in the neighboring building at Antonstrasse 10. In view of the merger with the Tageblatt, the editorial office moved to its headquarters at Wettiner Platz 10 in 1990 .

Follow-up publication

After the political turnaround in the GDR, which was fully supported by the newspaper, the Sächsische Neuesten Nachrichten was discontinued at the end of August 1990 and, together with the Sächsischer Tageblatt, was incorporated into the new title Dresdner Latest Nachrichten . This third largest with about 32,000 daily copies newspaper in the region is published by the Leipzig publishing and printing mbH & Co. KG, in which the dd_vg SPD Media Holding counting Madsack and Axel Springer AG until 2009 held the main shares. In February 2009, Axel Springer AG sold its shares to the Madsack Group. The publishing company also publishes the Leipziger Volkszeitung (LVZ) as the only local newspaper in the trade fair city.
