Robert Lechleiter (born July 1, 1980 in Rosenheim ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Beginnings in Bavaria

The offensive player Lechleiter began his football career at the age of five in 1985 at TSV Aßling in Upper Bavaria . In 1999 he moved to the district league club SC Baldham , with whom he rose to the district league in his first season . After another season for Baldham, Lechleiter moved in 2001 to Bayern division FC Ismaning , for whom he scored six goals in 28 appearances in his first season.

Lechleiter in Unterhaching

After 15 goals in 29 missions during his second season for Ismaning, the trained car mechanic was hired by SpVgg Unterhaching in the summer of 2003 , which started as a promoted player from the regional league in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2003/04 season. Due to the competition from Francisco Copado and Angelo Vaccaro in the Hachinger Sturm, Lechleiter only made twelve appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga and one appearance in the DFB Cup in his first season for SpVgg , with a 1-0 away win against Karlsruhe SC scored his only goal of the season for Unterhaching's first team. For Haching's second team, for which he played 17 games in the Bayern League during the same season, Lechleiter scored nine goals.

In the 2004/05 season , Lechleiter only came to nine goalless appearances in the first team and four goals in eleven appearances in the Unterhaching second substitute due to various injuries and the even greater competition in the storm of the Hachinger team with the meanwhile loan of the Rostock player Marcel Schied . At the beginning of the 2005/06 season , Lechleiter was then again considered a reservist and initially completed two more missions for Unterhaching's Bayernliga team until he was appointed to the starting line-up of the licensed team on matchday 12 of the 2nd Bundesliga and in a 4-1 win against the SpVgg Greuther Fürth acted decide the game with a goal and three assists, he that the rest of the season as a regular player was also involved with another Assists instrumental in the relegation SpVgg.

In 2006/07 Lechleiter was increasingly used in the midfield of the Hachingen second division team, but with nine goals in 32 games he was the top scorer of his team, which at the end of the season was relegated to the regional league in tenth place. Lechleiter turned down an offer from Bundesliga promoted FC Hansa Rostock in order to seek direct promotion with Haching.

In 2007/08 , Lechleiter scored ten goals for Haching in 28 regional league appearances, but was unable to play for SpVgg at the end of the season due to bone edema in his right knee, for which direct promotion was no longer possible from the penultimate match day. Lechleiter, whose contract, which was actually dated until 2009, contained an exit clause of 150,000 euros, then announced his move to FC Hansa Rostock , who had meanwhile been relegated from the first to the second Bundesliga. For Haching, Lechleiter had played 79 games in the 2nd Bundesliga (eleven goals), 28 regional league games (ten goals) and seven games in the DFB Cup (one goal).

Via Rostock to Aalen

For Rostock, Lechleiter scored his first league goal on the eighth match day of the second division season 2008/09 , after he had scored his first goal in a competitive game for Hansa in the first round of the DFB Cup. However, Lechleiter did not manage to play in Rostock's regular formation, and so he only played three games over the full season in a total of 13 league appearances. As a result, his contract with FC Hansa was dissolved in January 2009 after only six months of club membership. Then Lechleiter moved to relegation-threatened third division club VfR Aalen , for whom he scored three goals in 16 games up to a cruciate ligament tear , which he suffered on the penultimate matchday of the 2008/09 season .

When Aalen was relegated to the regional league, Lechleiter's contract was no longer valid. Lechleiter initially refused to renew the contract on the grounds that he wanted to recover from his injury first; thereby he was temporarily without a club. In November 2009 he finally signed a new contract with VfR Aalen. At the start of training in January 2010, he finally returned to training. Although he only played 15 games for VfR in the second half of the season, he was still the team's top scorer with seven goals in the 2009/10 season and thus had a large share in the direct return to the third division . He also won the WFV Cup with the team , which entitles them to participate in the first round of the 2010/11 DFB Cup . The opponent was FC Schalke 04 , and the home game against the eventual cup winners ended 1: 2. In the third division season 2010/11 , Lechleiter scored nine goals in 34 of 38 league games and, together with Martin Dausch, was once again the top scorer of his team.

For the following season 2011/12 , the VfR team was reinforced again; Lechleiter then played an outstanding season with his club, at the end of which VfR was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga and Lechleiter as the top scorer of his team with 14 goals and nine assists in 36 games to the runner-up top scorer in the third division (behind Marcel Reichwein from Erfurt ) has been. The viewers of the SWR television show Sport on Saturday then voted him Player of the Season .

The top scorer, Marcel Reichwein, was signed by the Aalen team in the new 2012/13 season and thus a teammate of Lechleiter. In the following season, coach Ralph Hasenhüttl usually played in a 4-5-1 system with only one striker in the second division , so that Lechleiter was mostly used as a right midfielder instead of as a striker as before. Nevertheless, he was able to build on his previous achievements and was again the best goalscorer in the Aalen team, who were surprisingly good as promoted climbers and who reached ninth place in the table at the end of the season. Lechleiter not only scored nine goals himself, but also gave seven assists. After the end of the season, Robert Lechleiter was therefore honored by the sports magazine kicker as the best offensive winger player in the 2nd Bundesliga. During the 2014/2015 season, Lechleiter suffered cartilage damage and ended his professional career at VfR Aalen, with whom he was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga.
