Patrick Mayer (born March 28, 1988 in Wangen im Allgäu ) is a former German soccer player and current soccer coach . The last one was under contract with the regional league club SV Waldhof Mannheim . After the 2017/2018 season, he ended his playing career.

Career

In his youth, Mayer played for SV Beuren, FC Wangen 05 and VfB Stuttgart .

After his junior years, he played in the second team of VfB Stuttgart, for which he played a few games during his time as an A-youth. After Mayer was awarded to SSV Reutlingen 05 after the winter break of 2007/08 , he moved to the regional league team of Frankfurter Eintracht in summer 2008 , but could not make the leap into the Bundesliga despite a quota of 10 goals in 17 games.

From 2009 to 2011 he played at 1. FC Heidenheim in the 3rd division . He made his professional debut on August 8, 2009 when he was substituted on in the 57th minute in the 2-0 home defeat against SV Wehen Wiesbaden . In the 2010/11 season he was top scorer in the third division with 19 goals together with Domi Kumbela from Brunswick .

For the 2011/12 season he moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga FC Augsburg . On November 20, 2011 (13th matchday) he made his Bundesliga debut in the 1: 2 defeat in the away game against VfB Stuttgart with a substitution in the 78th minute for Daniel Baier .

However, this was his only Bundesliga appearance in the first half of the season, after which he returned to 1. FC Heidenheim on January 4, 2012 on loan until the end of the season. But already in the fifth second round match he suffered a double ligament tear in the game against Carl Zeiss Jena and was out after the end of the season.

Since there was hardly a chance for Mayer at FC Augsburg , he signed a three-year contract on June 15, 2012 with 1. FC Heidenheim , to whom he was previously loaned. After five and a half years, Meyer left Heidenheim at the end of the 2014/15 season.

For the 2015/16 season Mayer went to SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the 3rd division . He was denied a regular place due to numerous injuries. After only 18 appearances and two goals in two years, he did not receive a new contract offer from SV Wehen Wiesbaden after the 2016/17 season. In the summer of 2017 he moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim in the Regionalliga Südwest and signed a one-year contract until June 30, 2018. After the 2017/2018 season, he ended his playing career and will be a coach at the district league club SV Beuren .
