Sebastian Schuppan (born July 18, 1986 in Lauchhammer ) is a German soccer player .
Career
Schuppan grew up in Hohenbocka ( Oberspreewald-Lausitz district ). The Niederlausitzer started his football career at the age of six with FSV Glückauf Brieske-Senftenberg and at the age of 15 switched to the youth of the “big neighbor” Energie Cottbus . There he went through the youth teams until he was used for the first time in the first team in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season . The midfielder, who plays on the left, was part of the tribe of the team that made it to the top division the following year.
Schuppan, who had a contract with Cottbus until 2008, did not get in shape at the start of the first division after an injury and thus only played for the second team in the regional league in 2007/08. He then left the club and joined the second division relegated SC Paderborn 07 . After the end of the 2009/10 season, his contract in Paderborn was no longer extended. Sebastian Schuppan then signed for the 2010/11 season with Dynamo Dresden in the 3rd division and achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club.
After relegation in 2014, Schuppan moved to Arminia Bielefeld . With the Bielefeld team he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga a year later. His contract, which ended in 2017, was not renewed. Schuppan then joined the Würzburger Kickers , with whom he signed a contract until 2019. For the 2018/19 season, Schuppan also became team captain of the Würzburg team and he extended his contract in January 2019 to June 30, 2020 - with the option of another season. With the Kickers he achieved his fourth promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with the fourth club in the 2019/2020 season. With his penalty goal in stoppage time to equalize 2-2 against Halleschen FC on the last day of the season, it was he who set the final cause for the rise of Lower Franconia.
