Patrick Sontheimer (born July 3, 1998 in Marktoberdorf ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with the Würzburger Kickers . In addition, the midfielder is a four-time German junior national player.

Sontheimer, born and raised in Ostallgäu , was trained in the youth departments of the local clubs FC Ebenhofen and FC Memmingen ; He started playing football at FC Ebenhofen as early as the G-youth, in Memmingen he was up to the C-youth, then the Middle Franconian SpVgg Greuther Fürth accepted him in their youth training center.

Sontheimer played with the Fürth youth team as a regular player in the A and B junior Bundesliga , before he made his first brief appearance in the men's division in October 2016 at the age of 18 when he was with the regional league team of SpVgg in Augsburg .

In the winter training camp of the 2016/17 season , the midfielder under coach Janos Radoki , who knew him from the U19s, was allowed to take part in the preparation for the second half of the season with the professionals. In the first game of the new year against TSV 1860 Munich , Sontheimer was in the starting line-up and played another ten games. In March 2017 he signed a professional contract valid until 2020.

For the second half of the third division season 2018/19 Sontheimer was awarded to the Würzburger Kickers . With the team he made it to the final of the Bavarian Cup against Viktoria Aschaffenburg , the team won 3-0. Following the season, the loan agreement between Fürth and Würzburg was extended by a year and a purchase option was added. At the end of February 2020 the Kickers withdrew the option and regular player Sontheimer stayed permanently in Würzburg. At the end of the 2019/20 season , in which he was used variably in midfield, Sontheimer rose to the 2nd Bundesliga with the Kickers . He had only missed a league game due to a yellow card suspension and was named the second best third division player in the German football rankings in the position of “midfield defensive” .
