Denny Herzig (born November 13, 1984 in Pößneck ) was a German soccer player .
Career
Herzig comes from the youth of FC Carl Zeiss Jena , from whom he and his older brother Nico moved to the youth department of the English second division club FC Wimbledon after graduating from secondary school in 2001 . After playing for FC Blackpool for a year and a half, Herzig returned to Germany with his brother in 2004 and joined the second division club Wacker Burghausen .
From 2006 to June 2009 he played for the regional league club SV Elversberg . In the 2009/10 season he was team captain at Rot-Weiss Essen . After its bankruptcy, he signed a one-year contract with third division club Dynamo Dresden for the 2010/11 season . After his contract with the Elbestädtern had not been extended, Herzig switched to the regional league team Eintracht Trier for the 2011/12 season . His contract expired in the summer of 2012; after that, he initially kept fit at FC Carl Zeiss Jena . This was followed by engagements with regional league club SV Seligenporten and Bayern league club FC Pipinsried . In 2014, Herzig began training with the police, which was also a reason for moving to Pipinsried. With FC Pipinsried, Herzig rose to the regional league in 2017 and played there one more season.
