Nico Herzig (born December 10, 1983 in Pößneck ) is a German football player .
Career
At the age of 17, Nico Herzig went to England with his younger brother Denny , where he played at Wimbledon FC . He then moved to Wacker Burghausen , where he was used as a defender . For the 2006/07 season he moved to Tivoli for the newly promoted Bundesliga Alemannia Aachen , where he played 27 Bundesliga games as a regular. For the 2008/09 season Herzig moved to Arminia Bielefeld and returned to Alemannia after one season. From the 2011/12 season, Herzig played for third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden , where he first signed a two-year contract, which he extended in 2013 for another year. He was also the captain of the SVWW in the third division season 2013/14 .
In January 2015, shortly before the end of the transfer phase, he joined the regional division Würzburger Kickers . After a successful second half of the season against the leaders, Herzig won the Bavarian amateur championship in 2014/15. In the following relegation, the Kickers prevailed against 1. FC Saarbrücken . Thanks to Herzig's winning goal in the first leg (0: 1), the team was promoted to the third division. There he came to only four league games in the following season after a meniscus operation, with the Kickers he celebrated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.
For the 2016/17 season, Herzig moved to the Regionalliga Südwest and joined TSV Steinbach . As captain of the team, Herzig won the Hessen Cup with TSV Steinbach on May 21, 2018, making it into the DFB Cup .
