René Lange (born November 22, 1988 in Teterow ) is a German soccer player who is used as a left-footed defensive player, in particular as a full-back and in the left or defensive midfield .

Career

Youth in Mecklenburg

The left-footed defensive player went through the youth teams of Gnoiener SV from the nearby Teterow Gnoien and the Mecklenburg FC Neubrandenburg from the age of five . In 2003 he moved to the youth team of FC Hansa Rostock , with whom he was German vice- champion of the B youths in 2004/05 under coach Thomas Finck . In the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons of the A-Jugend-Bundesliga , Lange then completed 49 appearances for Rostock with a total of seven goals before moving up to the men's division of FC Hansa from summer 2007.

A long time at Hansa Rostock

Initially, Lange was committed to the Rostock reserve team, which in the 2007/08 season of the fourth-class Oberliga Nordost aspired to qualify for the fourth-class regional league from the following season . In doing so, Lange, who completed only nine appearances in the first half of the league season, gradually developed into a high performer and finally contributed with another 13 appearances in the second half of the regional league qualification of the team as second in the table.

In the Regionalliga season 2008/09 , Lange then completed another 17 missions for the reserve team during the first half of the season , in which he also scored his first two goals in the men's area. From April 2009 he also took part in the training of the licensed team under Andreas Zachhuber , who had recently been engaged as a trainer, but continued to play exclusively for the reserve, to whose relegation he contributed with twelve second round appearances.

At the beginning of the 2009/10 second division season , Lange signed a professional contract dated until 2012 and finally made his second division debut for Rostock against Fürth on September 27, 2009 , which was followed by two more second division appearances. At the end of the season, however, the licensed team rose in the 3rd division , whereupon Lange's contract also lost its validity. For the reserve team, which has now been withdrawn to the league for financial reasons despite having been relegated to the league, Lange had meanwhile completed another 22 appearances in the 2009/10 regional league season .

In June Lange signed a new one-year contract with FC Hansa, but was unable to prevail in the 2010/11 season in the professional team now trained by Peter Vollmann . As a result, Lange only made three appearances in the third division and came back to the Rostock reserve team, for which he made 14 appearances in the 2010/11 season of the Oberliga Nordost under coach Axel Rietentiet . However, the club waived the possible return of the team to the regional league.

In 2011/12 , Lange was officially only part of the reserve squad, for which he played a total of 16 missions over the course of the season before tearing a cruciate ligament in March 2012. At the end of the season, the team then reached the athletic qualification for the regional league as first in the table, but was ultimately denied the right to promotion with the simultaneous relegation of the professional team.

From summer 2013, Lange was active for 1. FC Magdeburg . On May 31, 2015, as part of the team, he made it to the third division in the second leg of the relegation against Kickers Offenbach .

He then moved to FSV Zwickau and thus remained in the Regionalliga Nordost. In the 2015/16 season he also won the title with Zwickau and was promoted to the 3rd division. On March 16, 2018, he extended his contract with FSV Zwickau for two more years until June 30, 2020.

In July 2020, Lange moved to FC Carl Zeiss Jena, where he signed a contract until the summer of 2022 with the option of an extension of one year.
