René Eckardt (born February 22, 1990 in Jena ) is a German football player who is mostly used in the left or central midfield.

Career

Eckardt started playing football at SV Lobeda 77 . Eckardt has been playing for FC Carl Zeiss Jena since he was eight . Due to his good performance in the A-Juniors, he moved up in the course of the first half of the 2008/09 season in the first team that played in the 3rd division . In the DFB-Pokal 2008/09 he reached the last sixteen with the team, where they were eliminated against FC Schalke 04 . After 24 appearances in his first year as a professional, Eckardt made 15 third division games in the 2009/10 season , with Carl Zeiss Jena he finished fifth in the final ranking. In the 2011/12 season he was relegated with Jena from the 3rd division. In the summer of 2013, his contract was no longer renewed for financial reasons. He paused for over a year due to an injury and returned to FC Carl Zeiss Jena in October 2014 after a break of over a year. On October 12, 2014, he received a two-month contract initially limited to December 31, 2014. He made his comeback on October 12, 2014 in the Thuringia Cup against FC Blau-Weiß Dachwig-Döllstädt .

In August 2009 he was nominated for the U20 national team for the first time.
