The Wacker-Arena is a football stadium in Burghausen , Bavaria . It is the home ground of the regional soccer team Wacker Burghausen .

history

The stadium was opened in 1952 as a stadium on Liebigstrasse . After extensive renovation work in 2002, it bears the name Wacker-Arena .

After being rebuilt, the stadium had a capacity of 12,200 seats in the 2006/07 season, 4,400 of which were seated and 7,800 standing. For the 2007/08 season, after SV Wacker's relegation to the second division, the east stand with 3,200 standing room for the guest fans and the expansion of the main stand with 1,050 seats were dismantled, so that the stadium now only held 7,750 spectators. For the 2008/09 season, however, an uncovered standing room for guest fans was created opposite the west stand behind the gate, which holds 2,200 people, as a capacity of 10,000 seats in the stadium is required for licensing reasons for the 3rd division reached this season .

The stadium consists of four free-standing stands. All seats and a VIP area are located on the fully covered main stand, while the west and opposite stands offer standing room (partially covered) for 2,600 and 1,800 spectators respectively.

In addition to an electronic scoreboard, the stadium has a floodlight system and an athletics facility.

The audience record of 11,582 spectators was set on August 6, 2007 at the cup game against FC Bayern Munich .
