Status: end of career

Steffen Wohlfarth (born September 14, 1983 in Friedrichshafen ) is a former German soccer player who has been a coach for the Baden-Württemberg league club FV Ravensburg since 2017 .

Career

Steffen Wohlfarth's football career began at SC Schnetzenhausen , a small ski and football club from the Friedrichshafen district of Schnetzenhausen .

Until 2000, Wohlfarth, son of Bundesliga player Karl-Michael Wohlfarth , played for the larger sports club in his hometown, VfB Friedrichshafen , known for its Bundesliga volleyball team . That year he moved to the U-19 department at SC Freiburg , which he was a member of until 2002. Then Wohlfarth played for three years until 2005 in the amateur team of the Breisgau , before he finally joined the professionals. For lack of assertiveness, he moved to the 2006/07 season for regional division FC Ingolstadt 04 , who finished the season in fifth place and only just missed promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga .

In the following season 2007/08 Wohlfarth contributed 11 goals in 33 league games to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga and made his debut in this on August 17, 2008 (1st matchday) in a 3-2 win at home against SpVgg Greuther Fürth . After coach Benno Möhlmann was signed, Wohlfarth was only a second choice in the storm, so that in December 2010 the contract with FC Ingolstadt was announced.

On January 7, 2011, Wohlfarth's commitment (until June 30, 2012) for the third division team was announced on the FC Bayern Munich website. On January 22, 2011 (20th match day) Wohlfarth made his debut in Bayern's jersey when they lost 2-0 in the away game against Wacker Burghausen ; his first goal was the 66th minute of the penalty, which was converted from a penalty in the 2-1 defeat in the home game against FC Carl Zeiss Jena on February 11, 2011 (24th matchday). Five more goals followed , but Wohlfarth could not prevent the Bayern reserve from relegating from the 3rd division .

He was still in the 3rd league because he received a contract valid until June 30, 2013 with SV Wehen Wiesbaden for the 2011/12 season . For the second half of the 2012/13 season , his contract with SV Wehen Wiesbaden was prematurely terminated.

In January 2013 Wohlfarth then signed a contract valid until the end of the 2012/13 season with the Scottish first division club Ross County , for which he made his debut on January 30, 2013 (25th matchday) in a 1-0 home win against Hibernian Edinburgh . On March 9, 2013 (30th matchday), he not only decided the game with his goal to win the home game 3-2 against Celtic Glasgow in the 90 minute, but also scored his first goal in the Scottish league. After this season he ended his professional career and now plays for the Baden-Württemberg upper division club FV Ravensburg , for whom he made his debut on August 10, 2013 (1st matchday) in a 3: 3 draw in the away game against FC Nöttingen . September 2013 (6th matchday) scored his first goal in a 3-2 home win against 1. FC Heidenheim II .

On October 31, 2017, after Wolfram Eitel's resignation, Wohlfarth initially took over as a player-coach on an interim basis, and then as a full-time coach at FV Ravensburg from the second half of 2017/18.

successes

Others

Wohlfarth is studying at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Ravensburg . On September 2, 2017, Wohlfarth intentionally missed a penalty when his club FV Ravensburg played against FSV 08 Bissingen , which came about because his opponent Alexander Götz had picked up the ball after a corner, assuming it would go flat had been or had previously burst. Referee Luigi Satriano then interrupted the game and decided on a penalty, as he had not noticed any damage or anything else. The penalty kick was intentionally shot next to the goal by Steffen Wohlfahrt. Wohlfarth received media praise throughout Germany for this gesture of fair play.
