The German Obesity Society (DAG) is an association founded in 1984 of scientists and therapeutic experts who take on the clinical picture of obesity in a special way. For years she has endeavored to draw the public's attention to the growing importance of obesity in terms of health policy with scientific statements. A scientific conference is held annually. The DAG is a member of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies .

aims

According to the articles of association, the company's goals are:

  • Promotion of obesity research including support for young scientists
  • Promotion of scientific discussion and further training in the field of obesity
  • Development of concepts and guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of obesity.

Working groups

The Working Group on Obesity in Children and Adolescents (AGA) has existed since 1998 and is dedicated to the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of obesity in children and adolescents. This is currently the only working group.

Treatment guidelines

The DAG developed obesity guidelines for the treatment of obesity in cooperation with the collegial specialist societies German Diabetes Society , German Society for Nutrition and German Society for Nutritional Medicine.
