Najeh Braham (born May 20, 1977 in Bembla ) is a former Tunisian football player and current coach .

Player career

In the club

Braham began his playing career with the Tunisian club US Monastir . His first stop in Germany was 1. SC Göttingen 05 . During the winter break of the 2001/02 season, Braham moved to the regional division Eintracht Trier , but only made six appearances there in his first season. After Trier's promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, Braham was supposed to leave the club, but there was no interested party for the striker. In the following year he managed the breakthrough at Eintracht, when he had a significant share in the 7th place in the table of Trier in the first second division season with 13 hits. In the following season he failed to score a single goal in 15 games, so he moved to the second division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in 2004 . There he only came to twelve missions and one goal, which was not least due to his stubborn style of play, so that the team ultimately spoke out against Braham.

After the Thuringians were relegated, he returned to Eintracht Trier, who were also relegated to the regional league. There he scored 12 goals in 24 games, but could not prevent the club from being relegated to the league again. In the 2006/07 season Braham played at the Regionalliga Süd club Sportfreunde Siegen , but was mostly used in the second team. His contract was terminated by mutual agreement during the winter break of the 2007/08 season. On January 22, 2008, his commitment to 1. FC Magdeburg was announced. Braham's contract ran until the end of the 2008 season and should be extended for another year when qualifying for the third division. Although the Magdeburg did not reach the qualification, Braham extended his contract until 2010. At the end of the second season in Magdeburg Braham was informed that the FCM is planning in the future without him and he can look for a new club. Braham's record in Magdeburg is 18 goals in 45 games.

Najeh Braham then moved to third division club FC Erzgebirge Aue , where he received a one-year contract until June 2010. There the center forward scored 11 goals in 25 games and was the team's second most successful goalscorer. But then he got knee problems that made an operation necessary and the premature end of the season. Even without his help, the team managed to get promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. After that, the Tunisian stayed in Aue for another year, which was overshadowed by his knee injury. There were only five substitutions for him and at the end of the season his contract was not renewed.

For the 2013/14 season he took over the coaching position at SV Nordshausen , but moved to I. SC Göttingen 05 in February . In mid-October 2014 he was released after a false start in the new league season and replaced by Martin Wagenknecht.

In the national team

In the Tunisian national football team Najeh Braham came to a total of 14 appearances and scored four goals. At the Africa Cup of 2004 he was part of the Tunisian team that won the African Championship. He was there in two games and scored one goal.
