Nico Frommer (born April 8, 1978 in Ulm ) is a former German football player .

Career

The striker began his professional career in his hometown of Ulm. After moving to VfB Stuttgart , where he played eight Bundesliga games, he moved to the second division in 1999, where he first went on the hunt for goals at Borussia Mönchengladbach and then at SSV Reutlingen 05 and scored 34 goals in a total of 80 second division games.

In the summer of 2003 he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt , who had been promoted to the Bundesliga at the time , but where he was never able to win a regular place. In the second half of the 2004/05 season he was loaned to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . He no longer played a role in Friedhelm Funkels system, so Frommer moved to SpVgg Unterhaching for the second half of the 2005/06 season. During the winter break of the 2006/07 season he was signed by VfL Osnabrück . After the end of his contract in Osnabrück in 2009, Frommer was without a club until he was signed by RB Leipzig on September 24, 2009 . After RB Leipzig only planned with younger players for the 2011/12 season, Frommer had no more room in the team. In the meantime, he trained for 12 weeks with the Association of Contract Footballers (VDV) and then signed a contract with third division club 1. FC Heidenheim on September 27, 2011 until the end of the season. The striker started very successfully and scored five goals in the first six games, but then several injuries, including a ruptured knee ligament, made for an overall unsatisfactory season. Handicapped by his knee injuries, Frommer made it into the third division squad for only four games in the 2012/13 season and was part of the association division reserve squad from the second half of the season. Due to persistent knee problems Frommer ended his career at the end of the season.
