The DJK Eintracht Coesfeld is a German sports club from Coesfeld , which was founded in 1921. With over 5,250 members and 20 departments, Eintracht is one of the largest DJK associations in Germany today .

history

In May 1921 a German youth worker was founded in Coesfeld , the first three sports departments were gymnastics , football and hiking . The DJK Coesfeld soon developed into the largest sports club in the city. In December 1924, however, the footballers broke away from the club and merged with the Coesfeld sports association to form the new Lawn Sport Coesfeld (Raspo) club . The gymnasts and athletes remained loyal to the DJK and from then on gave it the nickname Eintracht. After the prohibition of the DJK associations in the Third Reich, Eintracht was re-established on July 7, 1951.

In 2009, the football women were Westphalia Cup winners , which entitles them to participate in the DFB Cup competition , where they were eliminated in the first round in the 2009/10 season after a 3: 5 defeat against the second division SG Wattenscheid 09 . In 2018, Eintracht went down to the district league. A year later, the Coesfelds were champions of the district league, but for financial reasons they waived promotion. Instead, Eintracht pulled the team back to the district league A, but managed to get promoted again immediately.
