The sporting upswing of female soccer players began in the mid-1990s. Promotion to the district class in 1995 was followed by promotion to the district league four years later. In 2004 the team was promoted to the Lower Saxony League East and became champions there five years later. After a 6-1 play-off win against ATSV Scharmbeckstotel , they were promoted to the Regionalliga Nord. There, relegation was narrowly missed in the 2009/10 season with only one point behind.
The B-Juniors of TSG Ahlten made it to the Bundesliga North-East for the first time in 2013 , but had to relegate again after a year. There TSG was again Lower Saxony champion and in the relegation against VfL Oldesloe in 2015 again achieved promotion to the Bundesliga North-East.
The men's team did not get beyond the district league and is currently playing in the district league.
