The DSG Breitenthal '95 is the oldest women's football club in Rheinland-Pfalz . Since the 2019/20 season, the club has been playing again under the name DSG Breitenthal in the Verbandsliga Südwest with the 1st team. The DSG plays its home games on the sports facility in Breitenthal .

history

The history of the association began 11 years before DSG Breitenthal was founded.

In 1984 SV Oberhausen founded a hobby women's soccer team, and in 1985 TuS Breitenthal / Oberhosenbach. Both clubs joined their women's football teams in October 1988 under the name "DSG Breitenthal / Oberhausen" and announced them in June 1989 for the coming season 1989/1990 in the district league Nahe in the game operation. At the end of the season, the team was established as champions and district cup winners and rose to the Association League Southwest. In the first year the relegation was secured in a playoff against Sausenheim (4-0), in the following years they occupied places in the front midfield. From the 1990/1991 season, the girls' team, which was founded in 1990, took part in the official game operation. In the 1993/1994 season a 1b. Team for the official game operation of the district league near and the 1st team won the association cup against SC Siegelbach (3: 2), which meant the simultaneous qualification for the DFB Cup of women. In August 1994 the game of the first round took place against the former Bundesliga club TuS Ahrbach . In front of over 900 spectators in Oberhausen near Kirn, however, they lost 2: 7.

In April 1995 the association "DSG Breitenthal 95" was founded. At the end of the 1996/1997 season, the first team became champions in the association league and rose to the Oberliga Südwest. After two 7th places, the DSG rose again in the third year of membership in the class with 11th place in the Association League Southwest. Two years after relegation, she secured the championship title again and rose to the Regionalliga Südwest, in the first year the best placement in this class was achieved as 5th. After 10th place in the 2003/2004 season, the DSG rose again in the following year (2004/2005 season) as 11th in the Association League Southwest. Although the team was again champion of the Association League Southwest immediately after relegation, but waived the promotion. In the 2006/2007 season, the first team was again champions of the association league and rose again to the Regionalliga Südwest. In the 2007/2008 season she won the Association Hall Cup and is in 9th place in the table. In the 2008/09 season, the first team defended their indoor cup title, but rose from the Regionalliga Südwest. The 2nd team reached 2nd place in the district league for the first time. In the 2009/10 season, the first team secured the championship in the association league, but waived promotion to the Regionalliga Südwest. The 2nd team took 4th place in the district league, came to the district cup final for the first time (6: 4 defeat against Monzingen on penalties) and was district hall cup winner. Both teams made it into the third round of the association cup. In the 2010/11 season, the first team took 4th place in the Association League Southwest, the second was 7th in the district league Nahe. In the association cup, the first team was eliminated in the quarter-finals. The 2011/12 season ended with second place in the association league and reaching the association cup semi-finals. The 2nd team became champions of the district league for the first time and also won the district cup.

In July 2016, DSG Breitenthal and SV Niederhambach merged to form the DSG Breitenthal / Niederhambach syndicate. The first year ended with places 2 (1st team, association league) and 7 (2nd team, regional league). In the following 2017/18 season, the first team had to be content with 10th place and the second with 9th place. After three years, SV Niederhambach terminated the syndicate, during the season 18/19 the 2nd team had to be withdrawn from play during the winter break and the first team finished the season in eleventh place. Due to the same number of points with the 1. FFC Niederkirchen II in 10th place, the DSG had to play in a play-off that they lost in Marnheim with 2: 4 on penalties. However, the team stayed in the association league, as only three clubs were promoted to the association league for the new season.

For the 19/20 season, the DSG returned to its roots and moved the game operations from Tiefenstein to Breitenthal.
