history

The club was founded on January 11, 1978 and initially played on the sports field of TuS Niederpleis . A year later, the club founded a women's team, which in the mid-1980s experienced a sporting high altitude. After three promotions in four years, the team reached the then first-class Regionalliga West . There, FC Sankt Augustin became an elevator team . After the direct relegation, the second promotion to the regional league followed in 1988. Two years later, relegation was only possible there through the introduction of the Bundesliga . Without a win and with 2:38 points, the team rose from the regional league in 1991. In the 1993/94 season there was another one-year guest appearance in the Regionalliga as well as the first qualification for the DFB Cup.

Sankt Augustin lost their first round match against VfB Rheine 5-0. In 1995 the team rose to the regional league for the fourth time and immediately reached fourth place. In the DFB Cup, the team initially had a bye and lost in round two against TSV victories with 0: 6. In 1997, he was relegated to the association league again. Another regional league guest game followed in the 2003/04 season. In 2009 the team rose again to the regional league and was relegated as the penultimate athlete. Since TuS Harpen withdrew its team and Rot-Weiß Merl decided not to move up, Sankt Augustin remained a regional league team. A year later, the team was relegated again and has been playing in the fourth-class Mittelrheinliga since 2011. In 2015 the women's team dissolved.
