Verena Hagedorn (born July 2, 1982 in Bonn ) is a German soccer coach and former player .

Career

Hagedorn began her career at FC Geistingen. Via TuRa Hennef and FC Sankt Augustin , she switched to TuS Köln rrh. In 1999 she finally moved to the Bundesliga club SC 07 Bad Neuenahr . A year later she became European champion with the U-18 national team . Another year later she successfully defended the title with the selection now known as the U-19 national team. On September 8, 2001, she made her debut in the senior team against Japan . In this game she scored the only goal in the game. In the summer of 2001 she won the European championship in her own country with the senior national team . In total, she made thirteen international matches by 2003. In 2005 she moved up the Rhine to FCR 2001 Duisburg , where she played until 2007. With Duisburg she was runner-up in 2006 and 2007 and was in the 2007 cup final .

From September 2016 to April 2017, she and Markus Högner were assistant coach to Steffi Jones for the German women's national soccer team. From April 2017 she was the coach of the women's team of the Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . At the end of the 2018/19 season, she left Leverkusen again and switched to the Mittelrhein Football Association.

Private

Hagedorn studied sports science at the German Sport University Cologne . From August 2006 to October 2007 she was a soccer coach at the elite soccer school in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler . She then moved to the Mittelrhein Football Association , where she now works as a coach for the selection teams. She ended her active career when she switched to the Middle Rhine Association.
