Adrian Grygiel (born August 13, 1983 in Katowice , Poland ) is a German - Polish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the ETC Crimmitschau in the DEL2 since January 2019 .

Career

Grygiel grew up in Kamp-Lintfort near Krefeld and finally began his ice hockey career at Krefelder EV . In 1999/2000, in his last junior season, the then 16-year-old scored 44 goals and 57 points in 31 junior games, whereupon the people in charge of the Krefeld Penguins appointed him to the DEL squad of the Rhinelander before the start of the 2000/01 season . Due to good performances in preparation, the winger got several probation opportunities in the DEL . In total, Grygiel made 29 appearances in the DEL in his first season, in which the then 17-year-old scored two goals and six assists. In addition, there were 25 missions at EV Duisburg , the cooperation partner of the penguins in the Oberliga Nord , for which he scored 14 points in the season.

The performances shown ensured that Adrian Grygiel was part of the regular Penguins squad in the following season 2001/02 , the attacker was able to improve again in the following season and scored seven goals and 13 points in 46 games. In the playoffs, however, the right-handed shooter was hardly used, as coach Butch Goring set up the more defensive and experienced players Sergej Stas and Andreas Raubal for tactical reasons .

In the last game in the Rheinlandhalle before moving to the newly built KönigPALAST in 2004/05 , Grygiel scored the last goal in the match against Adler Mannheim in the old stadium. For the 2006/07 season , the striker moved to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . On April 2, 2012, he announced that he would be joining the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg for the 2012/13 season. After a mixed season with three goals and five assists in 50 games, Grygiel was released from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2013 and negotiated a termination of his contract, which ran until 2014. After Grygiel initially kept fit at EV Duisburg and finally also played six games for the western upper division, he was signed by the Augsburg Panthers in November 2013 , who responded to a large number of injury-related losses from regular players. With the Panthers, he received a contract extension both in 2014 and 2015, so that he was ultimately under contract with the Panthers until 2017 and played a total of 160 DEL games for the club.

After the 2016/17 season he returned to the Krefeld Penguins.

International

Adrian Grygiel played the U18 World Championships in 2001 and the U20 World Cup in 2002 and 2003 for the German junior national teams .
