The EV Pegnitz is an ice hockey club from Pegnitz .

The exact name of the club is Eislaufverein Pegnitz e. V. ICE DOGS .

history

The official history of ice hockey in Pegnitz begins in 1949 with the establishment of the ice skating division at ASV Pegnitz , under whose name the ice hockey team participated in league games until 1963 and in the then third-highest division - the group league - in the 1961/62 season .

In 1963 the ice skating division of the ASV became the ice skating club Pegnitz , whose senior team rose in 1976 as champions of the Bayern League in the Regionalliga Süd . Between 1976/77 and 1983/84 she stayed in the league and moved to the Oberliga Süd for the 1984/85 season . After a subsequent retreat in the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association , the team took part as champions of the Bayern League in the 1987/88 season again in the Regionalliga Süd. At the end of the 1988/89 season , the team was relegated from the Regionalliga Süd and continued to play in the top division of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association - the Bayern League - until the 1995/96 season.

For a time, former members of EV Pegnitz founded the independent club Frankendevils Pegnitz , which briefly participated in league games - but was dissolved in the 1999/2000 season.

In November 2001 the club name was changed to the current version.

From the 2004/05 season the senior team of the EVP took part again in the Bavarian Ice Hockey League , from which they relegated at the end of the 2006/07 season after a defeat in the relegation playoffs against the EV Fürstenfeldbruck .

In the 2009/10 season the EV Pegnitz entered the state league, u. a. including ERSC Amberg , EC Amberg 2000, Weiden Blue Devils , the Hassfurt Hawks and the EHC 80 Nuremberg , the first four teams qualified for the promotion round in which the promotion to the Bayern League was played off.

In the 2011/12 season, the Ice-Dogs took 12th place in the Bayern North / East ice hockey regional league. This season, a second team was reported to play again, which participated as part of SG Höchstadter EC 1b / EV Pegnitz 1b in the District League North . For the 2012/13 season, this team was no longer reported to play. In the 2014/15 season, after winning the championship in the ice hockey regional league Bayern North / East, the team also managed to win the championship in the ice hockey regional league and thus direct promotion to the ice hockey Bavarian league .
